Latest issue of Briefings on Patient Safety available through Patient Safety Monitor
February 3, 2010
The February issue of Briefings on Patient Safety has been posted to the Patient Safety Monitor. This issue contains stories from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's 21st National Forum on Quality Improvement. The following is an excerpt from one of these articles:
Hospitals need to realize that the healthcare industry is forever linked with the macroeconomics of the United States, IHI president and CEO Donald M. Berwick, MD, told attendees at the group's annual conference.
As healthcare reform continued to roll on in early December 2009, this was especially true, Berwick said. He urged each attendee to view spending less money on healthcare as his or her responsibility.
The IHI's 21st National Forum on Quality Improvement gathered healthcare workers from across the globe interested in working to improve patient care and outcomes. More than 5,300 people attended the conference in Orlando, FL, and 15,000 more joined via satellite.
