New technology uses plasma to disinfect hands

Proper hand hygiene is important as hospitals battle against infections. In a world where caregivers wash or sanitize their hands numerous times an hour, new technology is a welcome addition. A few companies have been developing plasma as a means of hand sanitization, and if the technology goes mainstream, it could mean far less time spent scrubbing, reports The New York Times.
Caregivers would place their hands in a type of box that fills with plasma and is created to kill superbugs, like MRSA. Not only does it disinfect, which is important for facilities worried about the preventing healthcare-acquired infections, but it gets rid of fungi and viruses.
